DAY SIX

Genesis1 v24 to 26 and v31

There is no doubt at all that although there is evidence of primitive mammals at an earlier date in the fossil record the great explosion in numbers of mammals occurred suddenly and late. There is also no dispute about the fact that man arrived last of all. I think it is significant that there is no separate day allocated to the creation of man. He arrived at the tale end of the age of mammals to whom he is closely related. There is no point denying a close relationship when we share 90% of our DNA with the ape. However, it is also obvious that there is a huge difference between man and the cleverest ape in terms of consciousness. Then God said, "Let us make man in our image".
